Departing from the railway station of Vercelli, you follow the cycle paths of Corso Italia, Corso Palestro and Viale Rimembranza to exit the city, in the direction of Cascina Vecchia, leaving the paved road and coasting the airport runways. After reaching Cascina Torrione, leaving the unpaved road you reach Cascina Boschine, currently used in part by the students of the Farming Institute Ferraris of Vercelli for educational activities and field research. You cross the small hamlet of Carengo, passing Cascina Aramino, Cascina Castellazzo and Cascina Ferla. Coasting the “roggia del Molino” you arrive near Larizzate. Taking via Nino Bixio you can observe the Church of Maria SS. Assunta. From here comes a document, dated 27 August 1493, which for the first time signals the cultivation of rice in the Vercelli area. On the outskirts of the city, there is a 12th century castle of which a portion of wall and 2 towers remain. After passing Cascina Varola, on a grassy road which becomes a trail, you pass Cascina Angossa, then Cascina Angossetta. A short distance away, Cascina Boraso is an important example of a 19th century farm which became the headquarters of the Experimental Station of Rice and irrigated Crops in 1932. You return to the city on Strada Olcenengo, Via Gran Paradiso and via Monviso to cross C.so Giovanni Gastaldi and return to the departure point, in piazza Roma, in the area of the railway station.
