From Alpe Arza you go down again along the Monscera road until you cross the bridge over the Rio Rasiga and soon reach San Bernardo. From the Oratorio di San Bernardo you follow D0 path for a stretch, as far as Alpe Pragio, on the trail of the old mule track that went from Domodossola up to Monscera, used by Pope Gregory X in 1275 on his way back from Lyon but also by Baron Stockalper as an alternative trade route to the Gondo gorges. You then continue with a long stretch in the woods along the slopes of Monte Dente furrowed by numerous avalanche gullies, until reaching the beautiful Vallaro basin at an altitude of 1825 (Bivouac). From here you quickly climb up to the refuge of Alpe Laghetto (2046 m).
