Highlights and tour details

From the Sironi bivouac you go up the wide slope on pastures up to Passo della Forcoletta (2359 m) entering the track that gives access to the tunnel that was built in the 60s to pass safely with herds from Valle Antigorio up to Valle Cravariola in June, when there were still many stretches of snow and the passage over the pass was dangerous. From here you continue along a path along the hillside until you reach Passo di Fria (2499 m) in about 30 minutes. You then descend from the pass along the hillside that descends into Valle Cravariola. You go down through the pastures passing by the ruins of Corte Rossa and Alpe Groppo (1926 m), a mountain pasture that was abandoned years ago after a fire in the hut. From here you descend more decisively towards Alpe Corte Nuova until you reach the valley floor where there is the current Swiss border.
