Description
It will begin with a circular excursion through the villages of Stroppo, where treasures of inestimable beauty are hidden, such as the San Peyre Chapel.
A real dive into local history awaits the visitor, leading us to discover some of the itinerant trades present in the valley up to the last century. Arriving in Elva, a small village at 1,600m above sea level, you will come across the figure of the Caviè, or hair collectors, men who travelled throughout Northern Italy in search of locks with which to make extremely valuable wigs. There will be plenty of opportunities to socialise, animated by good Occitan music, the melodies of tradition.
Schedule
Day 1
Arrival in Morinesio, a pretty village in the municipality of Stroppo which has maintained all the characteristics of its Alpine architecture. Check-in at the accommodation. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2
Breakfast at the hotel and departure for a walk to discover the beauty of the local cultural and artistic landmarks. From the village of Morinesio, we go down towards the sanctuary of Santa Maria di Morinesio, continuing towards Caudano to see the Lazzaretto and then towards the Cappella di San Peyre. Possibility of cheese tasting in Cucchiales (on request). Finally, the ring comes full circle, returning to Morinesio. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3
Breakfast and departure from Morinesio for the Colle di San Giovanni, where you can admire an amazing panorama. We descend into the Conca di Elva. After lunch in the village inn, visit to the Chiesa Parrocchiale Maria Vergine which houses the paintings of Flemish artist Hans Clemer, the “Master of Elva” (15th-16th century) and tour of the Pels Museum. Transfer by bus to the hamlet of Allemandi (Prazzo). Check-in at the accommodation, dinner and evening of traditional Occitan music.
Day 4
Breakfast and departure for the “Lou Viol dal Genesté” excursion, a ring route that spans some areas of the municipality of Prazzo. A short detour to the “Charjaa d'Ase” is a must, a panoramic point on the Vallone di Elva. This path takes its name from the broom, a small shrub with intense yellow flowers that colours the scenery around the trail.
Return to the hotel, honey tasting.
Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5
Breakfast and departure for the return journey.
