Lake Maggiore, Lake Orta, Lake Mergozzo and Ossola Valleys

Ecomuseo del Granito di Montorfano e Civico Museo Archeologico

Map

Mergozzo is a land of stone with its landscape that combines the transparency of the lake waters with the imposing presence of Montorfano, to which is dedicated the Ecomuseum of Granite, and a thousand-year old land with archaeological traces dating back to the stone age and preserved in the Archaeological Civic Museum. A visit to the Ecomuseum of Granite and the Museum of Mergozzo, which form a single entity, means making a journey through the centuries. This allows to merge the discovery of the oldest civilisations with the knowledge of the history, traditions and work of man and discover how this has modelled the landscape and how, at the same time, it has been conditioned by it.
