The museum was born in 1981 thanks to the students and teachers of the Secondary Schools, who, with the help of the families, collected numerous items of local tradition. The materials on display outline the past history of Cannero, propose the reconstruction of an old kitchen and of the household activities of the past and illustrate the traditional artisan trades (wood, iron), farming, breeding and fishing and, lastly, the industrial manufacture of brushes, which characterised the local economy in the first half of the 20th century. The visit is completed by outdoor routes to discover the 18th century press and of the “grà” (stone buildings used for drying chestnuts) of Oggiogno and, since 2011, by the Citrus Fruit Park realised in association with the Department of Arboreal Cultivation at the University of Turin to preserve the botanic treasures of the territory.
