“Il Grande Ciclismo in Piemonte”, the guide published by UNCEM, offers 28 itineraries to put yourself to the test by trying the climbs of the Cycling Champions. We want to do more; we want you to be heroic cyclists: this tour of five days and four nights in Piedmont will put you to the test with at least 3 of these routes.

- Day focused on our STAGE 7 among the Alpine Valleys closest to Turin
Ride, eat and drink climbing back up the Lanzo Valleys followed by a long downhill section towards Col del Lys and Susa,
on the roads of the Giro in the shade of Saint Michael’s Abbey, symbol of Piedmont.
The 75 km route with an altitude difference of 1,291 m starts from the centre of Lanzo Torinese, heading for Germagnano. Outside the centre we follow the directions for val di Viù. The road tends
to climb immediately with several flat sections to the town. A slightly downhill stretch to Versino, left turn and the climb of Col del Lys starts, 13.5 km with an average gradient of 4.3%. The long descent leads to Valle Susa, passing through Rubiana we arrive to Sant'Ambrogio of Turin. A right turn in the direction of Susa where the road climbs slightly but with gentle slopes and ridable. We cross the villages of Sant'Antonino di Susa and San Giorio di Susa. After 10 km slightly uphill, we reach the centre of Susa

BIKES ROAD - GRAVEL
The Giro d'Italia took this route in 2019, 13th stage Pinerolo-Ceresole Reale climbing from Viù. Susa instead, has been stage city for many arrivals and departures of the Giro d'Italia. The last was in 2018, with the departure towards Cervinia.

- Day focused on our Stage 8. On the roads of Turin, to honour the feats of the Greats. From Coppi to Balmamion, to the unfortunate Marco Pantani. Between two of the great velodromes who have celebrated great cycling.
Departure from the centre of Nole to enter Ciriè a short time later. We arrive to San Francesco al Campo, known for the velodrome, which has seen many champions including Filippo Ganna. Continuing in the direction of Leini, continuing in the direction of the hill we reach San Mauro. Abbandoned the centre of San Mauro, turn right and start the climb of 9 km with a average slope of 4.7% and maximum tips of 11% which take us to Superga. Arrival to the sqiuare of the Basilica has seen the conclusion of dozens of editions of the Giro del Piemonte and Milano-Torino. Superga is also sadly famous for the serious incident which involved Marco Pantani on 19 October 1995. Turin has hosted the Giro on several editions and preciseluy in 2022 arrival of the 14th Stage.
At the end of the stage, to repay the effort, it is almost obliged to refresh with a typical merenda sinoira (wine and refreshments. The traditional Piedmont aperitif, with cured meats and cheeses of the area accompanied by excellent wines of the -

The Giro d’Italia in 2019 has passed by Nole Canavese in the 13th stage Pinerolo-Ceresole Reale to pay tribute to the great champion Franco Balmamion. The hill of Superga has been the arrival of stage in 1958 in the Saint Vincent-Superga race which saw winner Federico Bahamontes.

- We set off today for the exact route of the Elite-Under 23 race, with over a century of history that joins Ciriacese to the Lanzo Valleys. Hundreds of champions have crossed this valley. A
route which has already made history to reach the 1800m of Pian del Mussa. Departure from the centre of Ciriè, in front of the Town Hall, place in which many Criterium's have been held organised by GS Brunero, long-standing team which has forged hundreds of amateurs. Having reached Villanova Canavese we cross the Stura of Lanzo and continue to the valley cycling along the left bank, passing through Lanzo to reach Germagnano. Continue along the main road in the valley until km 24, turn left and climb back up Val d'Ala where the gradients of the road start to become challenging. Cross the town of Ala di Stura, a ski resort, another 7 km of regular gradients to Balme where the gradients reach 12%. The last 12 km, which are less demanding, allow to enjoy the breathtaking landscape of Pian di Mussa, a plateau of hundreds of hectares of grassland, 3 km long. At the end of the stage, accommodation in a mountain Refuge with a typical merenda sinoira, the traditional Piedmont aperitif with cured meats and Toma di Lanzo, a cheese produced in Alpine pastures during the summer period, accompanied by the excellent beer produced on site.
The Refuge is easy to reach with the comforts required nowadays, a friendly and welcoming setting. GTA and Via Alpina Stopover point but also a base for families with children, disabled, and all those who intend to immerse themselves in the unspoilt nature of Balme in search of sport and nature but also of culture and history.

On 25 May 2018, the 19th stage of the 101st Giro d'Italia travelled the roads of the Lanzo Valleys. In the 184 km of the stage, Chris Froome zeroed his disadvantage in the classification, climbing to first place in the overall classification.

We suggest a morning dedicated to Nordic walking, under the guidance of a Regional A.N.I. instructor (recommended) in Balme, which offers breathtaking natural scenery. Nordic walking is a sport which is practiced outdoors, a gentle type of exercise that develops resistance, strength and fitness thanks to the involvement of 85% of body muscles. It is also suitable for rehabilitation purposes.
At the end, delicious lunch at the Refuge where you will be served traditional dishes and more, also recovering ancient recipes that always use typical and seasonal local products at zero kilometres.
