Description
A journey across the Mediterranean Alps, a unique place in the world where the Alps plunge into the sea, bringing to life a series of natural and landscape wonders that are unique in the world.
A journey through the history of humanity, from prehistoric times to the Roman era, to the stormy Middle Ages and the world wars.
Schedule
Day 1
The Via del Sale. Departure from Colle di Tenda, short visit to nineteenth-century and WWII military installations with detailed explanations of these, visit to the gun emplacements, short history lesson and visual illustration of the route.
Day 2
The Alps of the Sea. Alpine forests overlooking the sea, vertical rock faces, and tough military roads take us to Liguria, where we will be able to partially visit the largest military installation in the Western Alps, the last 2000 before the sea with its crazy view from Monviso to Montecarlo, travel the famous Alta Via of the Ligurian Mountains that will take us to the Mare di Ventimiglia between Italy and France.
Day 3
The Valle Roya and the Valle delle Meraviglie. A place steeped in history and nature, a narrow valley, heavily fortified since the Middle Ages because it was a fundamental route for people and goods. We will cross some of the most epic landscapes of the Alps to reach our arrival point, Limone Piemonte.
